| Happy cllients from the last couple of months... Updated April 5, 2010 Hello, In wanted to thanks Jerry, Toni, and everyone else at Lemur, especially Chis, for your hospitality at the open house last weekend. I was the one with 3 kids, the oldest of whom plays the double bass. It was an unexpectedly nice way to spend parts of my son's birthday, and things like this really do do help spur interest in music! I'll be back to do some more looking into basses for my son, but if you keep a mailing list for upcoming events please do add me to it! Best regards, Jeff Radcliff Dear Tammy, I want to thank you and Lemur Music for your support of the American String Teachers Association by your presence at the Santa Clara Conference. I was delighted to see the California students and teachers from all over perusing the wonderful products in the Exhibit Hall. In this time of special economic challenges, your company’s support is very important to us as we endeavor to keep string education available to this generation of students. The conference was a wonderful opportunity for us all to feel enthusiastic and sense the strength in numbers. In appreciation, Judy W. Bossuat ASTA National Secretary Former California ASTA president Hi, Just wanted to say thanks for the fast, safe and secure shipping. I've placed a few orders in the last couple of months and everything arrived without a glitch. You guys are the best! Sincerely, John Barron I had the wonderful experience of buying a bass from Lemur in January '10. It was a very exciting time, for I was shopping around for my first "nice" bass. Despite how unusually busy it was that day at the shop, I got a great deal of information, service, and attention from Jerry and his associates. The experience was essentially a double bass field trip, for it was very informative and fun. Jerry also made great accommodations with my purchase which he certainly did not have to do, despite the fact that I had goofed things up a bit by not staying in contact with him when I should have been. Jerry also helped work with me on picking the right set of strings for the bass which was very important, for my request was a bit more particular than what he's probably used to. I'm in love with my new bass, and I especially urge any young or newbie bassists in or around California to visit Lemur Music. I hope to make several more pilgrimages to this wonderful store in the years to come. Thanks again. James, San Francisco Hi there, I received the new bass bag and it fits perfectly. What an excellent bag for the price!! I bought a competitors bass bag ... for about $30 bucks less, and it started falling apart within 45 days of professional use!! There is no comparison that your house bags are superior in quality and price...THANKS LEMUR !!!! Randy Inman Dear Toni, Tammy, and everyone else at Lemur, Thank you so much for just saying "strings for 5ths tuning". For me, this has always been about information.Your price for the "Obligato set" is great. I will forward this as one of the best choices for all the 5ths tuning bassists who ask about a good bowing string. Thank you Toni for being there for me 11 years ago when I first tried to find strings for this, and also for advertising and selling my book (I now have only a few copies left) I'm attaching my first review - I'm sure you have already seen it. Happy Valentine's Day! Dennis Masuzzo I played my new bass today at a school assembly and I think I really made the right choice! What awesome deep tones come out of my new bass...who will need her own name soon! Thanks for the wonderful day at Lemur Music once again! I feel so fortunate to have ever found you in the first place! You are all such great folks and always so helpful! Judy Dear Jerry and Staff: This letter is long overdue. I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for your service, and to give my comments on the bass and equipment I purchased from Lemur Music. Several months ago, on the recommendation of a bassist friend, I contacted Lemur Music for my definitive bass needs. I had visited many online sites, spoke with many other individuals up until then, and was frustrated by the seeming poverty of experienced help available. All of that, and the course of my musical life changed with one simple phone call to Lemur Music. I explained to Jerry and his wonderful staff that I was a neophyte bass player whose musical background was that of being a life-long accomplished symphony clarinetist and jazz saxophonist. My passion for playing the bass was sparked by accomplished friends who put in guest appearances in my jazz combo. Sadly though, most of them were too busy to play with us regularly. In my quest to provide authentic sounding swing and jazz classics to my audience, I needed a regular bassist. In the absence of available bodies, I became that person. Jerry was quite detailed and meticulous in his analysis of my particular situation. We discussed everything from the style of music intended to be played on the bass, to the size of my hands, my height, usual venues, climate of my area, and the fact that I needed to have the bass action adjusted so that my hands and fingers would not be abused in respect of my full-time job as a Plastic Surgeon. After a thorough discussion of all of these matters, and more, we came to the obvious conclusion that the bass most suited for me and my particular set of circumstances was the Emanual Wilfer 'Gentleman Jazz' bass. Being a performing bassist, Jerry also advised me about the most appropriate pickup for this bass (Fishman Full Circle), and the Acoustic Image Coda amplifier. The Wilfer 'Gentleman Jazz' bass is not only a beautiful instrument from a visual perspective, but it has a wonderful big, warm acoustic sound, throughout the entire range, pizz and arco, that has pleased audiences and musicians alike since the time I have been playing this instrument. If you are looking for an instrument for small acoustic gigs, like coffee shops, where you prefer to not use amplification, then this is the instrument. With the slim neck and superb setup, this bass is a pleasure to play, and very comfortable-no more sore hands! Jerry was entirely correct regarding pickup choice. In my opinion, after having compared a few other products, the Fishman full circle pickup gives the best reproduction of this beautiful instrument's natural tones. Finally, the Acoustic Image Coda bass amplifier, in my mind, is second to none for amplification of the upright bass. No preamps are required. The sound is huge for this small unit, yet never distorted, and always natural. I am very well aware that Jerry had at his disposal a multitude of basses and equipment, many of which were much more expensive than the Wilfer Bass. As a salesman, Jerry acted very professionally and gave me advice that was in my best interest, and not to his financial advantage. I am a customer who has dealt with Lemur Music both on the Internet and at great long distance. I can truthfully say that the experience I had was as if Lemur Music was up the street from me in my home city. All of the staff were very knowledgeable, very supportive, and at all times friendly, professional, and courteous. When faced with the adversities of dealing with cross border Customs officials and truckers, Jerry and his staff went more than the distance. I have heartfelt thanks and appreciation that Lemur Music, Jerry, and the staff are there to serve all of the bassists needs. One simple phone call to Lemur music will show you exactly what I mean, and will have an overwhelming positive impact on your music and your life.-- Mark R. Thibert, M.D., F.R.C.S.(C) Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada Hi, I had the pleasure of visiting your store Thursday Sept 30th and would like to thank all of you for the great time. I have been purchasing from Lemur for 33 years. Looked at other sources but no one compares to your selection and inventory on hand. I can't explain how exciting it was to be able to play all of the wonderful instruments Lemur has in stock. The Wilfer "Conservatory" caught my attention, very nice! So playable and what a beautiful sound. Then I picked up the Wilfer "Solo Upper Register", wow! I'm primarily a jazz bassest and this one is perfect for the job. The pizzicato sustain is awesome. All those things you look for were there, punch, growel, a warm fundamental tone mixed with colorful overtones. What else can I say? If we had stopped there I would have been happy, but you guys were holding out on me and saved the best for last. The Pollman "Venezia" was a dream come true. My personal standard for a string bass has reached a new level. I think I must be in love because every time I think about this instrument I feel like I'm floating off the floor. Thanks to all of you at Lemur Music, keep up the good work. Daryl from Alaska |
