Do you
need a new endpin for your upright bass?
The endpin is a fundamental
part of your bass; it's the adjustable height
foundation you lean on every time you play.
But if the endpin rattles or slips, it's not
performing the function you most need. What
if the hole in the block is worn and your
endpin is in danger of pulling out? Are you
tired of slip-on rubber endpin tips that don't
last, or don't grip the floor securely? Read
on, you need an Onyx Upright Bass Endpin
The Onyx Bass Endpin Will
Not Rattle. How does it work?
The adjustable height
endpin rod slides into a wooden plug that's
tightly fitted into the bottom of the bass.
The rod should fit snugly, but still be movable
in order to change the height. When it comes
to rattling, it's the part you can't see that
counts - the other end of the plug that's
inside the bass. A sloppily made endpin allows
too much space for the rod to flex and vibrate
within the plug, creating an irritating rattle
on certain notes. Not this one; Onyx Bass
Endpins plugs are carefully machine tooled
and then fitted with a long-lasting leather
washer that restrains motion and dampens rod
vibration.
The Onyx Bass Endpin Will
Not Slip. What makes it so strong and stable?
So many clever ideas have
been tried when making adjustable endpins,
but many just don't support the weight of
a bass. The Onyx Bass Endpin uses the tried
& true, set-screw-in-a-groove approach.
The adjustable height rod has grooves carefully
machined every 25mm so you can easily find
the height that's right for you whether you
are standing, sitting, experimenting or just
growing up. It only takes a moment to tighten
the custom-made brass thumb screw into one
of the grooves on the 10mm stainless steel
rod. And you don't have to apply Herculean
force to make it stay in place; this is Made
in America, first quality machine tooled
workmanship.
The Onyx Screw-on Rubber
Endpin Tip holds fast. What makes it different?
All Onyx Bass Endpins are
equipped with our unique molded rubber tip that
boasts several important features:
- Large, bulb shaped rubber
tip contacts with the floor to minimize creep,
while allowing the tip to be leaned back or
forward at almost any angle;
- Generously thick special
black 'rubber' lasts a long time and does
not mar the floor;
- Built-in rubber lock
washer so the tip won't become loose accidentally;
- Metal jacket inside
the tip is threaded so the point does not
wear thru like a slip-on type of rubber endpin
tip;
- Removable rubber tip
screws off easily to expose the needle-sharp
steel rod, perfect for connecting to a wooden
stage.

Quality Premium Grade Materials
All parts of the ONYX
Bass Endpin are carefully hand-crafted on
precision wood and metalworking machinery
in our own machine shop right here in the
USA. The wood plug is made from top quality
African ebony or true rosewood (genus Dalbergia),
turned to a precision taper to fit the traditional
reamed hole, and polished to a fine luster.
The brass collar is deeply pinned to the wood
plug so that it won't come loose or break
the wood. A heavy-duty, custom-made brass
thumb screw locks onto the 10mm stainless
steel rod with deep, rounded grooves smoothly
machined every 25mm. You won't find better
materials or better craftsmanship anywhere
in the world.
Choose the size that's right
for your bass.
The ebony or rosewood plug
is made in two diameters:
- 30mm (at the largest
part of the taper) is great for new basses
or replacements of smaller endpins; or
- 32mm for replacing larger
endpins.
