The choice for the double bass in jazz.
All strings are wound, minimizing the irritating effects of hand perspiration on the string. Despite the string being wound, the authentic gut string playing feel remains. The winding provides tone extension exactly as the homogenization of the sound of the string-set. In every register and with the desired demand on the playability of the strings, it is possible to produce a balanced, warm and nevertheless solid sound with a clearly audible attack.
The G string is wound with the finest polyamide, but can be played like an unwound gut string. The D string is spun with a polyamide/copper composite, solving the known problem of a slack and soft D gut string without sustain. The two lower pitch strings are wound with copper, as in the case of the animaŽ set, but with a higher proportion of gut. This provides an especially distinctive lower center, which allows the instrument acoustically to penetrate even a percussion instrument.
The gārboŽ gut string playing technique is unbeatable in volume and penetration.
