Double Bass makers often grapple with presenting a design that combines lots of air volume and playabilty. Despite the sheer size of this instrument, it is one of the easiest to get around on in the entire shop. Look at the rear view to see how the Eb neck is perched high upon very sloping shoulders. This allows easy access to the upper-most registers. In addition to having a generous upper bout and colossal lower bout, both the top and the back of the instrument are very highly vaulted. We had to custom turn an extra-long sound post to fit into this bass! Its dark, responsive, and very even; must be played to be believed.
