The Steinberger upright bass
has a minimal body allowing complete access to the high register. When I asked
Ned to talk about his favorite part of the instrument, he focused on the pickup
system. The BiPolar piezo bridge transducer system delivers the percussive
attack and natural bowed sound of an acoustic bass with one control setting,
and the smooth, long sustaining sound of a fretless bass guitar with another
setting. Rather than compromise with one combined sound, the BiPolar system
allows the artist to select and combine sounds that fit the application.
This instrument has the piezo
pickup and comes with a case and stand.

Highly flamed European maple,
ebony, and the latest high performance composite materials are combined in a

pluck, or bow without having to support the weight of the bass.
