Comment:
Here
is a good example of Horst Schicker's fine modeling
on a French Style Bass Bow. Typical of his work,
the bow has a long sweeping camber that supports
the taller Vigneron style head. The toe tip is
fairly short making the head nicely compact. The
stick shows some wear in the finish and the leather
grain is smoothed out a bit. The mammoth ivory
frog shows the hand of the previous owner. Like
all bone type materials it mellows to a golden
glow where the hand has touched it repeatedly.
We show both sides of the frog so you can see the
true coloring. The frog is in excellent condition
having no nicks or edge marring. The silver barrel
has a couple of small nicks, just as you would
expect from this bow's five years of orchestra
work.
