Lemur Music and Brian Bromberg teamed-up in October of 2005 to design a
bass that would replicate the great tonal qualities and playability of
Brian's 300-year-old Matteo Guersam. Soon bassists everywhere can have
access to the same palette as the Jazz virtuoso. Brian also wanted some
for himself, so he could travel with a copy of his fine Italian bass and
avoid any chance of damaging the irreplaceable original instrument.
The documentation process of measuring and photographing Brian's bass at
Lemur yielded a series of drawings and plans. Now copies can be built
with all the qualities of the original instrument.
The first of these instruments is being built for Lemur Music in
Germany, using carefully-chosen premium tone woods, traditional
craftsmanship, and our customary attention to detail. Whether you are interested in a setup identical to Brian's, or would
prefer your own customized setup, we offer a money back guarantee of
satisfaction to every musician who buys an instrument from Lemur Music.
Please enjoy these photos of Brian's bass with the understanding that
the replica bass will be a contemporary bass, finished and detailed to
the exacting standards we established in the analysis phase of this
truly exciting venture.
Please contact Lemur Music to discuss further details about our in stock instruments or to place a custom order. 800-246-2277 (US and Canada only), or 949-493-8323.

Brian Bromberg's Early 1700’s Matteo Guersam Italian Bass NOT FOR SALE
Brian Bromberg Announces the “WOOD” Bass
I am very pleased to announce that I have teamed up with Lemur Music to develop a new line of upright acoustic basses inspired by my early 1700’s Matteo Guersam Italian bass played on this recording, my "Wood" CD, and for that matter every recording session that I have played on as a professional bassist.
This instrument has truly been a blessing in my life since I was 16 years old. The people at Lemur Music painstakingly measured my 300 year old bass inch by inch, documented the thickness of the top, back and sides, the shape and size of the scroll, and even the tuning gears. Together we have come up with a beautiful replica of a truly special one-of-a kind instrument.
The bass is called the “Wood” bass and will be available spring/summer 2006 at Lemur Music.
