Comment:
These bass bows are from the well-known
workshop of Lothar Seifert. Because
several bowmakers work on each step of the bowmaking
process the bows are considered 'workshop' bows
and are signed W. Seifert.
All the members of the Seifert
family are certified masters. Seifert's
workshop bows set the standard for consistency
in grading the sticks, as well as best quality
custom frogmaking (done in-house), hairing, and
fitting.
Seifert double bass bows
consistently draw a good,
dark, rich orchestra sound, and are
well-known for their similarity
of character, tone production, and playability.
For bass players who prefer
an round pernambuco stick, AB255G is the same quality
level as this octagon shaped bass bow.
If you have no preference for round or octagon
shape, please consider
a bow trial of either one. The
round sticks tend to be have a bit more
mass so they produce a dark, rich tone, but still
have easy control in the hand. The
octagon sticks are noticeably slimmer,
produce a clear ringing orchestral tone, and tend
to be a bit more agile in the spicatto.
