Nickel Silver German Style Double Bass Bow

Stamp: none

Stick: Medium brown Sustainable Species (bignonia) wood, in a round shape.

Frog: German style, ebony frog (from farmed wood), well-figured muscle-shell slide (recycled shell from food industry), muscle-shell single eye.

Button: Ebony button with nickel silver ring.

Wrap: "Croc" or "Liz " stamped black or brown leather over nickel silver wire with black silk thread.

Specs: 133-136 grams, overall length 74cm, tip to button length 71cm.

Playing Characteristic: Dense, fine grained wood that produces a clear tone and holds onto the string. Not suitable for advanced play, but it offers good stability for a less experienced player who may be ready to try pernambuco, but not have the budget for it.

Comment: We are beginning to see alternatives to Pernambuco used in bowmaking. We have tried several species and think bignonia will be dense, flexible, and strong enough to hold a camber well.
