Lullaby for Bass Quartet
Biographical notes: Paul Ramsier's output includes orchestral, opera, choral, instrumental and chamber music. He has also composed for every level of the solo double bass, including compositions for virtuoso double bass and orchestra that have established him as a major figure in the development of the instrument. These compositions began with the landmark "Divertimento Concertante on a Theme of Couperin (1965), followed by "Road to Hamlin," and "Eusibius Revisited. There have been well over 150 orchestra performances of these compositions, including major ensembles in the USA and abroad. He taught composition at New York University and the Ohio State University. After earning a Ph.D., he turned his attention to the study of psychoanalysis, and has since pursued a double career: psychotherapy and musical composition. Dr. Ramsier composes, and practices psychotherapy in Sarasota, Florida.
