Eberhard Meinel, a violin making company in East Germany, persisted into the 21st century. During this time, they still had excellent stocks of fine woods including spruce large enough for bass tops with fine, straight grain. As well, there were large flitches of well flamed wood for bass backs and sides.
The bass described here represents the best bass made at Meinel Violin Workshop. It was further upgraded upon order to include traditional overhanging top and back. We have seen many young musicians progress into serious musical studies while playing one of these basses. Consider this German made all solid wood bass to be a gift from the Soviet era to a student like you.Model Bass
