PREFACE
When in 1996 four double bass students at the Munich Academy of Music successfully performed in a cheerful concert no one could imagine that the international double bass ensemble BASSIONA Amorosa would arise from that told Prof. Klaus Trumpf, founder and leader of the ensemble.
Fun turned serious, so the ensemble managed to guest with great success in Europe, Asia and in the United States. A repertory had to be created. Original works for double bass quartet mainly did not exist, so arrangements of well known works of classical and popular music were made. Thankfully, Hofmeister music publisher took over the printing of these pieces within an own series signed as BASSIONA AMOROSA.
The special sound effect which is emphasized and documented both by the international press and concerts, audio-and video recordings became an inspiration for the creation of many double bass ensembles worldwide. And so the editorial series BASSIONA AMOROSA will be completed gradually. With Lucky, You & Me, Organic and Circus new jazz compositions for double bass quartet were first published. The pieces were written for the worldwide known and decorated International Double-Bass-Ensemble BASSIONA AMOROSA by Giorgi Makhoshvili, member of the ensemble. Furthermore they are often parts of the ensemble concerts.
