We took what we learned over the past 16 years and put our Design Engineer to work creating a totally new kind of shipping carton - One that is Airline Checkable.

The bass and the box together weigh just 40 pounds, which is not considered "overweight" by most airline standards for checked baggage. Unlike the full sized trunks of yester-year, the FlyAway case is a size that will be accepted as luggage, every time.

We knew that anything sticking out from the case would be stripped off during transit. That's why you see no hinges or latches; handles are cut into three corners, and wheels recessed into the fourth corner. Velcro keeps the lid on tight, while being easy on the TSA Agents who must inspect.

Let's talk about which instruments are available in the FlyAway Bass Model. There are plenty of stick basses and instruments with cut-down bodies. But Lemur set out to develop something different: a way to travel configured from your favorite bass. We currently have three models to choose from. Each Case is specially fitted to the Bass inside. Some of the cases are even smaller than Tosca's FlyAway Case. Check out bass specs by using the menu shown below.

It is also possible to convert your bass to a FlyAwayBass, as we have already done for several traveling musicians. Making your bass into a FlyAway Bass is done in two steps. First, we must convert your bass to a Removeable Neck Bass. Then we must build a custom sized case using Lemur's unique Airline Checkable Bass Case Design. Lemur Music Road Tested the FlyAway Bass for Over a Year to Insure Strength, Durability, Ease of Use, and Acceptance on Airlines Worldwide.

Both Jazz and Orchestra Players have used the FlyAway Bass to insure that their instrument safely arrives on their same flight. The exceptionally strong, resiliant material resists scraping, denting, and puncture. It wipes clean with a damp cloth. Velcro closures mean the box is easily opened and closed for inspection.

Everything you need is right inside the box including the removeable neck bass, bridge, tailpiece, tool (shown far right), and instructions.One musician was able to open the box, setup the bass, and give it a quick tuning in less than 7 minutes, every time!
