In conjunction with the bass makers at Emanuel Wilfer,Lemur Music has created a custom collection of double basses designed to deliver the big full sound that both orchestra and jazz players are looking for. The series of 5 basses, Conservatory™, Upper Register™, Foundation™, Edelweiss™, and Gentleman Jazz™ can be customized for your specific playing preference.
In this generation, the bass maker at Emauel Wilfer is Roland Wilfer. His Meister Certificate was earned at the most famous violin making school in the world in Mittenwald, Germany. His family has an impressive collection of wood garnered over three generations and is used in the making of his fine instruments.
In addition to the Wilfer Five, Lemur Music is pleased to offer a varying selection of basses from E. Wilfer as they become available during the year. Please call 800-246-2277 (US & CAN) or (949)493-8323 worldwide to learn more about these custom basses.
Elegant gamba shape, well-selected spruce, lightly flamed maple for the back, sides and neck, and a dark varnish make for a great bass at a great price. The standard 3/4 dimensions are enhanced to strengthen the sound and make an instrument which is accessible from top to bottom
This double bass's fancy violin corners, antique amber color and more select woods remind us of a beautiful flower. The 3/4 dimensions have been enhanced to strengthen the sound, while a special varnish adds color to the upper register.
Violin corners, antique amber color and medium-fancy woods make for a beautiful double bass that can really move some air. If you've dreamed of playing piano trio gigs without an amp, this could be your bass. Please click thru to see our VIDEO of Gentleman Jazz
We requested a variation in shape that was a real success- a 3/4 width upper bout with a 4/4 size lower bout. What a great combination to project a loud, full sound yet give easy access to the upper register.
This is a five string double bass that can really anchor a section. A full-size, gamba shape double bass with a deep curve on the fingerboard and a bridge that makes room for your bow hand while giving access to the interior strings.
This 3/4 sized bass is marked "Gotz" and is most likely a Wilfer Bass made in Germany. It was a better quality instrument at the time of its making. Bass is in excellent condition. Please click thru for more information....
