Primer Scale and Arpeggio Fingerings utilizes open strings, keep shifts to a minimum, and stay in lower positions, usually first, half, or second position when possible, and there is only one fingering for each scale.
Like the "Miraculous" books, the keys are arranged in ascending chromatic order. For the keys from E to A, there are two one-octave fingerings, and one two-octave fingering. All higher keys extend only one octave. Fingerings that require a shift are indicated with a large, bold number, those that do not are notated with a small, fine number. In Primer Scale and Arpeggio Fingerings will acquaint new players with the sound and construction of major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor, and chromatic scales, major, minor and dominant seventh or arpeggio in all keys.
