Dittersdorf Double Bass Concerto in E Major Urtext For Double Bass and Piano Double Bass parts for solo, orchestra, and "Viennese" tuning with cadenzas, fingering and bowing by Tobias Glöckler Also includes cadenzas by Johannes Sperger Piano reduction in D and E major by Christof Sobanski Using the Bass part in D, the piano accompaniment can be played in E for solo tuning or D for orchestral tuning. This is relatively difficult to execute but the harmonics lie well under the fingers. Using the bass part in C and the piano in D, one can play in solo tuning for a favorable execution but the harmonics can be problematic at times. Using the "Viennese" tuning of A-D-F#-A allows the historical way of playing this piece with ideal execution and harmonics. This fingering notation allows every note played to be read and fingered exactly as on a modern double bass tuned in fourths. |
