Over the years, Lemur has stocked the contemporary work of many major bass makers such as Pollmann, Wilfer, Stoll, Scaramelli, and Arvi. We have taken their 'stock' models and we have collaborated with them to create 'Lemur Exclusive' models. We base our knowledge on years of experience talking to both the Makers and Players, like yourself. It is a very exciting and interesting position to hold -- ours here at Lemur Music.
We offer telephone support for all your questions about these wonderful bass makers. Call us if you desire a custom bass. We offer advanced positioning in the production line of many makers and can deliver commissioned basses more quickly than you'd imagine.
Handmade by George Borun, a southern California instrument builder. Beautiful woods are used throughout; note the flamed back and sides. A carved button on the heel of the neck features the maker's initials, GAB. This artist's research into violin making led him to a more "English" styling. The instrument has a very good sound, with a deep, robust lower register, a clear mid- range, and a sweet, singing upper register to boot.
We recently ran this bass thru the workshop to fine-tune its sound and playability. It's in tip-top good shape, with excellent Deep dark robust tones.

Roland Wilfer has used his most well-aged wood for this antique reproduction bass. It’s a copy of a well-known Amati bass, scaled up just a dab to give maximum volume and projection.I’d like to draw your attention to the proportion of the waist (C-bout).It is long, lean, and oh so easy for your bow, whether on the upbow or down. The top is made from 80-year-old aged spruce. The back from super hard aged maple.Rubner’s antique iron machines offer a very pleasing look with all the convenience of modern machines. The antique brown oil varnish is just superb, complimenting the appearance.
As always, your satisfaction with any bass you buy from Lemur Music is guaranteed. We will work diligently with you to fit the right bass to your play and your aspiring career. Please feel free to call me; I am here to answer all your questions and to guide you thru your bass buying decision. Heidelberg™ is a Gamba Form bass with Easy Arco Access from the sloped shoulders, slightly enlarged C-bout, and taller bridge. The nicely swelled back & sides add extra capacity in the body making plenty of volume for orchestra play.We have the top carved to Lemur Specs and a special sizing on the bass bar which releases very good fundamental on the low strings. Back and sides are poplar, the top is spruce. We order Stoll basses in a rich, dark red-brown finish that is hand rubbed to a glossy luster.Heidelberg is available in 3-4 size for advancing players as well as 4-4 size which really has the power to anchor a section.
Heidelberg™ Bass in 4/4 size is an excellent candidate for a Lemur Music Gated Extension Machine. Her size and strength will easily accommodate the extra tension of the machine, and produce the deep fundamentals you need on the Long Fourth String. All gates are adjustable along the length of the extension fingerboard enabling our Luthiers to fine-tune each position, calculating exactly for each bass’s precise tuning requirements.

Lemur Music has long insisted that Wilfer make basses no more than 42” to accommodate a greater range of players.Prague differs from Arco-Boss being a bit smaller but having a more lyrical sounding graduation of the top plus the new bass bar configuration.
