For true Bottesini fans THIS
is the most "over the top," flashiest, crowd pleasing composition
that Giovanni Bottesini ever wrote. Apparently out-of-print for as much as a
half-century, the "Concerto di Bravura" has been arranged for bass
in solo tuning, with piano accompaniment. This piece of about fifteen minutes
length, has everything from "alligator tears" pathos to "the
Hero saving and winning the heart of the 'Damsel in Distress'," to an "audience
on their feet" dramatic ending.
AND it has five (count them)
FIVE cadenza opportunities for the soloist to show what he or she is truly made
of (or to make a complete fool of themselves). This work should always be in
the standard repertoire for any "hotdog" bass soloist!

the Concerto di Bravura which arrived about an hour ago. I was so excited
to receive (it) that I already played through the entire piece! So many
surprises that I didn't expect, but so typically Bottesini to steal from
his own works and then elaborate on them. It's a technical tour de force,
which must be an audience thriller when you play it... It certainly beats
the usual concerto that everyone plays... This one, for sure, is a winner
and just the right length. Congratulations on your arrangement and for maintaining
such a high standard. I'm thrilled to have it.
